According to Colorado Independent, PolitickerCO is shutting down:
Twelve Politicker political news sites around the country, including PolitickerCO.com in Colorado, were shut down and their reporters unexpectedly laid off Friday morning. The sites, billed as “Inside politics for political insiders,” covered news in 17 states around the country and are owned by the Observer Media Group, based in New York.
Politicker.com sites in New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania will remain operating, according to a source with the company. Sites in Arizona, California, Colorado, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Vermont and Washington state will disappear.
Most of the sites, including Colorado’s, employed a single reporter to cover local political news, which was then aggregated on a national site. Jeremy Pelzer, the lone PolitickerCO.com reporter, has been based out of the state Capitol since January and is among those who learned of the layoffs Friday morning, according to a source with the news organization.
Ironically, it was PolitickerCO that reported on massive layoffs at Colorado Independent last month.
If all of these sites are dying, who will be left to report the demise of Colorado Pols? And if a political website dies, and nobody is around to report on it, then does a tree really fall in the forest?
Guess we’ll just have to keep plugging along. We don’t die – we multiply.

Nearly everyone comes here for the latest policy doctrine, gossip, posturing and zinging.
Plus you’re financially backed by a vast un-named leftwing puppet agent that is controlled by the Democracy Alliance and George Soros. 😉
We forgot about our vast funding network.
get left off their payroll?
Politicker was a first mover in other states and late comer to Colorado. I only discovered it a couple of days ago. They had good software and a good design, but blogs thrive on controvversey, not honest reporting.
Liberals are more likely to support sites like this. Face the State is dead. No one comments on its posts, which are kinda interesting. But it’s design discourages comments, and conservatives have better things to do than comment on politics.
Jeremy is a fantastic reporter, I hope someone is smart enough to see that and hire him.
As soon as we get our check from our vast funding network. We’ve been waiting for that check for four years.
And I will duly report on your demise.
The SquareState.net business model is completely recession resistant.
By having no funding going in, and by being entirely staffed by hobos, we are impervious to market downturns.
Doesn’t grab me.
Just reviewed your home page. There are several reasons you get little reader participation.
talking to himself again, replying to his own posts.
Some things never change.
You know, we tried to write an extreme right-wing progressive website, but that is not as easy as it sounds.
And while participation is always a challenge, the traffic we get has allowed us to make $15,000,000 more this year than the Rocky Mountain News has. Not bad.
🙂
It takes FOREVER to load the homepage.
